May 13, 2010 – Newberry cyber training director teaches anti-terrorism course to Philippines law enforcement

Joseph Church, Director of Cyber Training at The Newberry Group, Inc., recently taught an anti-cyber terrorism course to officers in the Philippines National Police at the Philippine Public Safety College in Taguig City, Philippines. Mr. Church, who serves as a computer forensics expert instructor and subject matter expert for the U.S. Department of State, led the cyber forensics team that taught the course.

The course focused on Identification and Seizure of Digital Evidence, equipping police officers with the proper knowledge and skills to handle vital evidence related to computers and electronics storage devices, as reported in Manila’s The Daily Tribune. See the full article here.

Aside from his work for the Department of State, Mr. Church works closely with the Newberry Cyber Security Division to develop and grow Newberry’s Cyber Training competency, with an initial focus on development and delivery of Digital Forensic training capability across all markets. Mr. Church’s professional background includes more than 15 years of Information Technology and digital forensics experience with an emphasis on digital investigations and training. He was a Senior Instructor for the U.S. Department of State’s Global Anti-Terrorism Assistance Cyber Training Program, a track lead for the Defense Cyber Crime Investigative Training Academy, and a Detective in the Prince George’s County Police Department in Maryland, where he performed digital forensic case work with the Federal Bureau of Investigations.
