The Newberry Group’s certification and accreditation (C&A) services deliver the expertise and documentation you need to achieve C&A compliance, demonstrate that compliance to the Inspector General, and mitigate information security risk.

The Newberry Group provides a thorough security assessment by our information assurance experts who build and deliver a comprehensive certification and accreditation package. The certification and accreditation package includes all the required documentation and reports detailing the plan and assessment results. It is prepared in accordance with agency needs, applicable standards such as NIST, DIACAP or DoDIIS, as well as industry best practices.

The Newberry Group develops all categories of accreditation packages – system accreditation, for major applications or general support systems; site certification and accreditation for systems and applications at specific self-contained locations; and type accreditation for systems or applications distributed across multiple locations. All of our reports are easily read and understood at all levels of the organization. Your Designated Approval Authority will easily discern the level of risk the target system poses to your security posture and allow them to make the appropriate accreditation decision.

In addition to discovering and documenting weaknesses, Newberry works closely with the system owner to develop appropriate, meaningful mitigation strategies that are designed to decrease the risk of operating the target system in the environment.

The Newberry Group also provides Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) services to evaluate the correctness and quality of certification services performed by internal resources or external contractors. We can perform an IV&V of System Security Plans, risk assessment, security categorizations and disaster recovery plans. If these documents do not exist we can create them to your specifications. Our IV&V process ensures that all certification and accreditation packages are standardized, correct and complete.
